Homework is set to provide an opportunity to reinforce the skills learnt at school. It also provides the parent with an opportunity to see the progress their children are making.
Homework activities could include reading, spelling, word recognition, number facts, writing activities and long term projects.
Children will be given a reading and spelling activity nightly. Written homework will be given throughout the year. All children will have work suited to their ability. Children are asked to complete the set homework for the week and hand it in every Friday.
Below are the approximate times that students should be focussing on homework each school day.
As a guide:
- Year 1 - 10 minutes
- Year 2 - 15 minutes
- Year 3 - 20 minutes
- Year 4 - 25 minutes
- Year 5–7 - 30 minutes
Note: Prep students are not expected to complete any homework.
